Foreign election observers have broadly endorsed Sunday's poll results

: Myanmar said Thursday that US President Barack Obama called his counterpart Thein Sein on Thursday to congratulate him on holding a -"free and fair-" election, which Aung San Suu Kyi's party is on the precipice of winning.
Obama -"called President Thein Sein this morning to congratulate him and the government for successfully holding a historic free and fair general election,-" Information Minister Ye Htut said on his official Facebook page.
