“A number of power projects, including LNG-based (liquefied natural gas) plants, are under construction, and transparency in these projects has helped save billions of rupees. What is this if not good governance ” he asked.
Mr Sharif added, “We should steer the country out of difficulties by working together.”
Last week, Army Chief Raheel Sharif underlined “the need for matching/complimentary governance initiatives for long term gains of operation (against the militants) and enduring peace across the country.”
Mr Sharif said the whole nation should support the national agenda to take the country forward on the path of progress and prosperity. He said those using negative tactics against the government are actually pulling legs of the country.
Nawaz Sharif said that the six-lane Lahore-Karachi motorway was a grand project which will have great impact on economy. “Motorway is a precious national asset playing an important role in country’s economic development and prosperity,” he said.
Meanwhile, Gen. Raheel Sharif has arrived in the US for a five-day visit during which he will hold talks with top defence officials on key issues with special focus on the Afghanistan peace process and Indo-Pak ties. Gen. Raheel arrives in the US at a critical time when the entire focus of the Obama Administration is on tackling the dreaded ISIS in the aftermath of the horrific Paris terror attacks that claimed over 120 lives.
Gen. Raheel is visiting the US on his own as there was no official invitation either from his American counterpart or the Pentagon.
