The protocol squad who misbehaved with the sister of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan in Lahore on Friday belonged to Pakistan Administrated Kashmir President Sardar Yaqoob rather than Maryam Nawaz Sharif, as alleged by the victim.

According to initial investigations, Sardar Yaqoob with heavy police protocol visited the residence of Asim Gujjar in Lahore’s Gulberg, where his gun totting guards first hit the car of Dr Uzma Khan and then harassed her. Mr Khan’s sister was traveling in a private car along with her son.

Later, Dr Khan told reporters that she was harassed by the guards of Maryam Nawaz Sharif outside a house in the posh locality. She said she was on the way home when a car approached them and the bodyguards forced them to stop the car immediately so that the VVIP motorcade could pass first.

“When we tried to get out of the car some policemen pointed their guns at us,” explained the visibly shocked lady. She also claimed that her car was hit by the protocol of prime minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz in Gulberg area.

The entire PTI leadership, including Mr Khan, came down hard on the daughter of the PM over the issue as local news channels highlighted the episode as breaking news.

But later Dr Khan and Imran Khan faced severe criticism from PML-N leaders for leveling such “baseless allegations” against the PM’s daughter without confirming the facts.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday rejected allegations leveled against her. She tweeted that she felt sorry for Dr Khan, adding that she was in Islamabad when she received news of the incident. She added that liars should have some shame at least in the month of Ramzan.
