A protester tried to storm the stage while Donald Trump was speaking at a rally in the US state of Ohio but the Republican presidential frontrunner brushed aside the latest incident of chaos at his events saying the man was “probably” an ISIS supporter.
The incident that took place on Saturday in Dayton city, Ohio, came a day after Mr Trump cancelled his campaign rally in Chicago citing security concerns after hundreds of people gathered at the arena to protest against his “politics of hatred” and scuffled with his supporters in the largest-ever demonstration against the real estate tycoon.
“He (the protester) should be in jail. This guy is probably an Islamic State (ISIS) supporter. They (the court) let him go. Our court has to get tougher and smarter,” Mr Trump told his supporters in the Kansas City, Missouri, on Saturday night. Mr Trump was referring to the incident in the morning when an individual tried to jump on to the stage, before secret service agents got hold of him and cordoned off Mr Trump. A few minutes later the 69-year-old Republican presidential front-runner continued with his speech.
Meanwhile, Democratic presidential aspirant Bernie Sanders called Mr Trump a “pathological liar”, and Mr Trump shot back, saying Mr Sanders is a “Communist” and accusing his campaign of organising violent protests against him in Chicago.
“Some (protesters) represented Bernie, our Communist friend,” Mr Trump said. “You know where they (the protesters) come from Bernie’s crowd.”
The allegations were immediately denied by the Sanders campaign, which disassociated with the protesters who were chanting “Bernie Bernie” at Mr Trump’s Chicago rally.
