VIT signs MoU with 5 European institutes

VIT University, Vellore, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enter into academic and research co-operations with five top European institutions in Germany, Sweden and Ireland, including Technical University, Dresden, Leibniz University of Hannover, University of Applied Sciences, Darmstadt, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, and Dublin City University for an exchange of faculty and students, conducting joint seminars, workshops, training programmes and conferences, the exchange of scholarly publications and the initiation of joint sponsored research programmes.
VIT chancellor Dr G.Viswanathan and assistant vice-president Kadhambari S. Viswan-athan visited the above-mentioned cities recently and signed joint agreements on behalf of VIT University with the rectors and presidents of the respective European institutions.
Under the MoU, VIT University students and faculty members will visit these universities regularly to Germany, Sweden and Ireland, the students and Professors from the partner universities will also be able to come to VIT for study and joint teaching programmes.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.G.Viswanathan said that VIT University is proud to be a partner of these renowned European institutions because it shared common areas of interests in cutting edge technologies of research and development.
During this visit, Dr.G.Viswanathan also met Air Chief Marshal (Retired) Mr.Browne, Indian Ambassador and Mr.Ponnappan, Second Secretary at Indian Embassy, Oslo, Norway to establish academic co-operation with the Norwegian Universities especially in the areas of engineering and technology and visited University of Oslo, oldest and prestigious university in Norway for a discussion on academic collaborations.
