Expanding the ambit of its probe into the alleged disproportionate assets case against Himachal Pradesh chief minister, the CBI on Tuesday questioned Vikramaditya Singh, son of Virbhadra Singh, in connection with the case. The CBI, had on Monday, informed the Delhi high court that Virbhadra Singh’s children have been called as “witnesses” for questioning in the case and there was “no plan” to detain them.

Sources said Singh arrived at the CBI headquarters here at 11.30 am. After a prolonged grilling, which lasted for over six hours, CBI claimed that Singh remained evasive and gave conflicting versions during questioning on certain issues. During his questioning, Vikramaditya was asked about his statement during the preliminary enquiry in which he is understood to have claimed that some of his assets, including a farm house in Mehrauli (Delhi), were from money provided by his father, sources said. They said the probe team questioned Vikramaditya on the difference in the claims made by Virbhadra and him. He may be called for questioning again.
