US, Indian agencies to cooperate on security

The security protocol of US President Barack Obama is all set to be drastically changed, perhaps for the first time, ahead of the Republic Day parade. “There would be an unprecedented level of cooperation between US and Indian security agencies to provide foolproof cover,” a senior security official said. The Secret Service has already informed their Indian counter parts that hi-tech US surveillance satellites will be closely monitoring each and every movement all along the Rajpath during the Parade. The Secret Service and other US security agencies will be setting up their own control room near the Rajpath to closely monitor the security cover for their President. Though top intelligence and security officials are extremely tightlipped about the security deployment for the US President, sources said that the Secret Service is set to more than double its security personnel as compared to Mr Obama’s previous India visit in November, 2010. “The fact that the US President is going to be out in the open for such a long time means that their security team will substantially increase its deployment of men and equipment this time. Even our own security deployment this time for the Republic Day parade will be much higher than previous years,’’ the official added.
