New Delhi:

Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar on Tuesday summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit and presented proof of cross-border origin of Uri terror attack.

Tension heightened between the two nuclear-armed neighbours after Pakistan backed terrorists killed 18 Indian soldiers at Army base in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri.

According to MEA Spokesperson Vikas Swarup, the preliminary investigation has revealed that one of the terrorists involved in the attack is Hafiz Ahmed, son of Feroz and a resident of Dharbang in Muzaffarabad. This information and other details was shared by Abdul Basit.

“One of the four terrorists involved in Uri attack has been identified as Hafiz Ahmed from Muzaffarabad in PoK,” Jaishankar told Basit.

“Jaishankar termed the continuing attacks from Pakistan against India as unacceptable,” added Swarup.

Jaishankar also gave details of the handlers - Mohd. Kabir Awan and Basharat.

Jaishankar also informed Basit that the two guides who helped in the infiltration have been apprehended by local villagers and are now in NIA custody. The guides were - Faizal Hussain Awan (20), son of Gul Akbar and resident of Potha Jahangir in Muzzaffarabad and Yasin Khurshid (19), son of Mohammed Khurshid and resident of Khiliana Kalan in Muzzaffarabad.
