: Ruckus continued to rock Parliament as Congress demanded the suspension of Virender Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker from Uttar Pradesh, over his 'derogatory and personal remarks' against the party leaders.
Congress demanded 'strong action' against the BJP leader for making personal attacks and using unparliamentary language in the House.
-"The member made derogatory and personal remarks. Strong action should be taken against him and he should apologise,-" said Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge.
The Rajya Sabha was on Thursday adjourned till 11:30 a.m. as the Congress members continued to protest against the government on the National Herald issue.
On Wednesday, BJP's Virendra Singh said while the Congress is talking about pain of farmers, Rahul Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia had no knowledge about farming and cannot distinguish between bajra, jowar and wheat. His remarks triggered sharp protest.
He also lashed out at the Congress for obstructing Lok Sabha proceedings and said the party only wants the -"fair skinned-" to occupy the Prime Minister's office.
Targeting Rahul Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia, Singh said, -"These people talk about farmer's interest when they follow feudal practices even now. A minister once told me when you call Scindia, his staff says -"Maharaj-" is still sleeping. I want to tell him the days of zamindari are over.-"
“I want to tell Rahul and Scindia that these rulers are born not just from queens but also from women who do menial jobs,” said Singh.
