Twitterati laments washout of session

The social media was abuzz on Saturday with the National Herald case and the appearance of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi in the court. The debate in the social media engaged people to argue on the issue if the National herald case had derailed the Winter Session of Parliament.

A large number of users on Twitter and Facebook sought to portray that the Winter Session of Parliament has nearly been washed out just because the Gandhi family was forced to appear before the court. So much so that the official Twitter handle of Mr Rahul Gandhi tweeted saying “National Herald is a separate issue and the GST is a separate issue”.

It further tweeted: “In the media there is some sense that the National Herald & the GST are linked. But there is absolutely no link between National Herald & GST”.

However, there was not much of an impact on people who took to Twitter to lament the wash out of Parliament and the fate of the GST. One tweeter Rahul Roushan said: “No. National Herald is trouble. And GST is Gandhis Saved from Trouble.”

Former finance minister P. Chidambaram too tweeted to argue that there is no connection between the National Herald case and the logjam in the Rajya Sabha.

He was mocked by one tweeter Smita Barooah tweeted “THIS has got to be the statement of the day! Clearly INC (Congress) thinks that the people of India are stupid.”
