Buoyed by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s recent roadshow in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency of Varanasi, senior leaders of the Uttar Pradesh Congress met on Tuesday to decide how to keep up the party’s spirit in the poll-bound state.
AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad called a meeting of the UP Congress coordination committee members and senior leaders at the party headquarters to decide on strategy.
Congress CM candidate Sheila Dikshit, UP Congress chief Raj Babbar, Dr Sanjay Sinh, Mr Pramod Tiwari, Mr Sriprakash Jaiswal, Mr Pradeep Jain Aditya and others took part in the deliberations.
Though the party leaders remained tight-lipped about the outcome of the meeting, a section of the UP Congress said it was about holding roadshows in different parts of the state and organising rallies.
Mr Azad, Ms Dikshit, Mr Babbar, Dr Sinh and Mr Tiwari will address a press conference on Wednesday.
A senior CWC member said that the party should be active in Lucknow rather than the national capital. Campaign in-charges for all the 18 divisions of UP should be made active, he said.
