Highlighting the state government’s agenda for good governance, Bihar deputy chief minister Tejaswi Yadav on Wednesday claimed that “the government will not let any student leave his studies midway due to lack of finances and I will ensure that they get all help and support”.

His statement came after he helped an engineering student get his long-pending scholarship dues cleared. A Sitamarhi-based student had messaged him details of his long-pending scholarship dues on his Facebook page, seeking his support on the issue. According to the student, the amount was credited to his account within 48 hours of his complaint to the deputy chief minister.

“An engineering student messaged me that he was not getting his scholarship amount which was promised to him after he passed his board exams. I got his details verified and ensured that he gets his scholarship money without delay,” Mr Yadav said on Wednesday in Patna.

“I keep getting such complaints and requests and always ensure that bright and needy students get all help from the state government,” Mr Yadav said.

RJD workers who are presently involved in the membership drive think that “Tejaswi Yadav’s style of functioning will change the party’s image and will help rope in more youth towards the party”.

According a senior RJD leader, “The party has already achieved the target of 50 lakh-mark and announcement in this regard will be made soon by the leadership.”

Another RJD worker claimed that, “Tejaswi Yadav’s earlier statement on the issue of good governance and law and order has also helped more people to join the RJD. We will gain if he continues to work in the similar manner.”
