Techie killed, Lalu defends government

The recent spurt in killings and endless extortion calls have forced the Nitish Kumar-led Grand Secular Alliance government on the backfoot.

The recent spurt in killings and endless extortion calls have forced the Nitish Kumar-led Grand Secular Alliance government on the backfoot. While the police has launched a manhunt in Bihar to catch the killers involved in the double murder case, an engineer was found murdered in Vaishali district, leading to uproar in the state, with the Opposition terming the government’s claims and assurances “mere eyewash”.

The victim, Ankit Jha, an engineer with Reliance IT, was involved in the laying of optic fibre in Vaishali area. His body, with multiple injury marks, was spotted by locals in an orchard in Kashipur village within Rajapakar police station limits and the police was informed. SP Rakesh Kumar said the victim was a quality engineer with Reliance IT. It was confirmed on the basis of a diary and identity card recovered from the pocket of the deceased. The motive behind the murder of Jha, whose jurisdiction was entire north Bihar, was yet to be ascertained, the SP said.

The BJP attacked the government, saying, “The criminals have started to raise their heads after the victory of the Grand Secular Alliance in Bihar. Nitish Kumar has no control over the administration.”

RJD chief Lalu Yadav defended the state government, calling allegations of “jungle raj” “baseless and politically motivated”. He said criminals creating havoc in the state were the same who had defied the state government when his party was in power in Bihar a decade ago.
