SP chief sees 3rd front only after elections

The CPI(M) has begun talks with the SP, JD(U), JD(S), BJD and some others in a bid to form a non-Congress, non-BJP front. A clear pointer came Monday from SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, who said the Third Front will be formed after the 2014 elections. He said he was confident “the next PM will be from among the (Third Front) alliance partners”.

He said he was confident “the next PM will be from among the (Third Front) alliance partners”. The CPI(M), which has taken the lead to forge an alliance of “secular forces”, is working hard to ensure their participation at a convention against communalism in Delhi soon. “We are working for the success of the convention,” said CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury. Ruling out formation of a Third Front before the 2014 elections, the SP chief said there could be differences among parties on ticket distribution if a front took shape now.
