Sharad Yadav slams NDA ordinances

The JD(U) on Sunday hit out at the NDA government at the Centre for a spate of ordinances promulgated in the recent days.

JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav claimed that the Centre was allowing exploitation of natural resources through ordinances.

JD(U) leader and former Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar also claimed that “the way the ordinances have been issued is highly objectionable”. The JD(U) chief, meanwhile, said that by clearing such actions on coal and minerals, the Centre has allowed “blatant” exploitation of resources which had been so far preserved by the country. Mr Yadav added, “What has happened after the ordinances We had preserved the resources. But now they have been opened up for blatant exploitation.”

Seeking to take a pot-shot at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his pet project of Swachchh Bharat Abhiyaan, Mr Yadav said that moving around with a broom will not help as what the youth needs is employment. “Mahatma Gandhi’s statues have been put up, but his ideals have been long buried,” said Mr Yadav.

The JD(U) chief was speaking at an event organised in the memory of socialist leader Raj Narain.

He said that while the cause propagated by such iconic leaders have long been forgotten, people use their names to further their own political interests.

“Raj Narain was the ‘Hanuman’ of Ram Manohar Lohia. Struggle was in his genes. He had the capability of taking people along. But today, what we see is people talking of his ideals but they lack public support,” remarked Mr Yadav.
