SC dismisses to entertain plea seeking probe against Mumbai Police

Former Home Secretary R K Singh had talked to a hindi news channel about a botched operation to target Dawood.

In view of the claims made by former Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh, the Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain the plea seeking a probe against the Mumbai cops, who allegedly work on underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's payroll.

The petition was filed by Rakesh Joshi, a resident of Mumbai.

In an interview to a leading Hindi news channel, the former home secretary had talked about a botched operation to target Dawood. However, Singh had made it clear that he cannot say it was confirmed as he does not have any evidence in this regard.

-"A group was being trained to target Dawood but he had people in Mumbai Police on his 'pay roll' who were alerted. Mumbai Police came saying there is a warrant against them. But I cannot say it is confirmed. I have just heard...I don't have evidence,-" Singh had said.

Singh also claimed that India had planned a covert operation to target Dawood which was launched when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister, but it was compromised by some corrupt elements in the Mumbai Police.
