With the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) moving a privilege motion in the Rajya Sabha on Monday against Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Renuka Chowdhury for allegedly misbehaving with Union minister for food processing and SAD member Harsimrat Kaur Badal, the Congress members clarified that there was no altercation outside the House with the minister and she was only told that being a minister she is supposed to behave with dignity. Earlier, the Upper House saw TMC members staging a walk out, demanding a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over growing attacks against dalits.

The alleged incident happened soon after the Rajya Sabha was adjourned on Friday afternoon over ruckus created by the treasury benches on AAP’s Lok Sabha MP Bhagwant Mann’s controversial filming of Parliament.

As the House was taking up Zero Hour mentions, SAD’s Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa demanded an apology from the two Congress MPs over their alleged misbehaviour with the Union minister. He asserted that a minister has the right to speak in any House and the permission for the same was strictly between the Chair and the minister.

“What right do they have to obstruct ” asked Mr Dhindsa and also alleged that the two had misbehaved with Ms Badal outside the House.
