Clearing doubts about the controversial organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Akhil Bharatiya Sah Sampark Pramukh of the RSS Arun Kumar on Thursday said the “RSS is a movement and its goal is to transform society”. Contending that the discourse of the country has not been “rational” but “selective”, and new terms like “intolerance” are being used to target it, he also pitched for changing and setting a new discourse in the country in the interest of the people.
Senior RSS functionary Arun Kumar, in charge of the Delhi wing of the Hindutva organisation, said the glaring issue is that the debate in the country has one target — to obstruct the national consciousness of the country.
“The agenda of RSS is not about nourishing the interest of some individuals but that of the nation and society. India has become the victim and we are all becoming victims as the discourse has non-issues as issues,” he said during the launch of the book Know About RSS, by Arun Anand, noted former journalist and media adviser to the Union health minister.
Anand’s book unravels the functioning of the 90-year-old organisation that has fuelled many myths and controversies. The book provides an insight into the unexplained aspects of the RSS, like the daily shakha, saffron flag, prayer, training camps, and its workers.
“There have been a number of books on RSS, unfortunately either anti-RSS or pro-RSS. This book is an attempt to fill this gap and provide factual information. Sangh cannot be ignored and I thought that it is necessary to clear the air as it can be used as a primer,” Anand explained.
