RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin gets life in prison

A district court on Friday awarded life sentence to former RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin and three others in connection with the abduction and murder to two brothers.

A district court on Friday awarded life sentence to former RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin and three others in connection with the abduction and murder to two brothers. The district court of Siwan, which had held him and his three henchmen guilty of brutally murdering two youths by giving them “acid bath” eleven years ago, on Friday pronounced the sentence under section 302 (murder), 201(causing disappearance of evidence and giving false information) and 364(A) (kidnapping for ransom).

Shahabuddin, who was earlier declared by the state police department as Type A history-sheeter, is already facing a life term since 2003 in a case related to abduction with an intent to murder which was awarded to him in the year 2007.

The district court also slapped a fine of '20,000 on him. The brutal murder of a local businessman Chandrashekhar Prasad’s two sons Girish Chandra and Satish Chadra was carried out by Shahabuddin’s men in the year 2004 at his native Pratappur village in Siwan. Rajkumar Sah, Arif Hussain and Aslam had abducted Girish, Satish and Rajiv Raushan from there house on August 16, 2004 and later killed two of them by pouring acid, while Rajiv escaped from the scene of occurrence.

FIR in this connection was lodged after the incident by deceased mother Kalawati Devi naming Shahabuddin and three others. Later Shahabuddin was made an accused in the case for hatching conspiracy by police for killing three sons of Chandrashekhar

According Shahbuddin’s lawyer Abhay Kumar Rajan the order will be challenged in higher courts as “Shahabuddin was in jail when the incident had occurred.”
