New Delhi: Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting at his residence to discuss the situation in the Kashmir Valley.

According to reports, deployment of security forces in the Valley was discussed, in view of the ongoing 65-day unrest over the killing of militant commander Burhan Wani.

It was attended by the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, IB Chief Dineshwar Sharma, BSF DG KK Sharma and Home Secretary Anil Goswami, said reports.

The meeting took place even as the Indian army engaged suspected Pakistani terrorists in Allah Pir area of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday.

Meanwhile, another youth succumbed to his injuries in Srinagar on Sunday, taking the toll in the 65-day violence in the Valley to 79.

An all-party team which traveled to Kashmir in the first week of September failed to achieve anything substantial, as separatists refused to attend the meetings.

Last week, Rajnath Singh had also announced replacement of pellet guns, which have caused grievous injuries and death of protesters in Kashmir, with PAVA shells, in response to persistent demands for the banning of pellet guns from the Opposition and the PDP-BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir.
