With only a couple of days left for the fifth and final phase of polling, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of misleading the nation for his “political motives”.
Mr Gandhi, who was in Bihar to address rallies, attacked Mr Modi on his government’s Make in India concept, saying that it was nothing but an eyewash.
Mr Gandhi said: “The lion which depicts the campaign has failed in providing employment to the youth of this country.”
Attacking Mr Modi for his stinging remark against the Congress and holding it responsible for ineffectiveness in developing the nation, Mr Gandhi said: “The Prime Minister must not forget that it is due to the Congress’ efforts that the world today recognises India as a developed country.”
“By questioning the Congress saying that the country hasn’t developed, he is questioning the country’s strength,” Mr Gandhi said while addressing a rally in Araria on Monday.
Accusing the Prime Minister of failing in his promises to bring down daal prices and bring back the black money stashed in foreign banks, he said: “He has failed in all his promises. Their failure will make way for the Congress’ return.”
Taking a dig at the PM on the daal price issue, he said, “Modiji wants people to sing daal-roti mat khao magar prabhu ke gun gao (don’t eat daal roti but remember God).”
Reminding people about the Prime Minister’s promises to deposit '15 lakh in their accounts, he asked them: “Did you get the promised amount in your bank account The Prime Minister has even failed in bringing back black money stashed in foreign banks.”
