In what has been the most worrying development for the security agencies in India, the Islamic State (ISIS) modules are found to have been publishing propaganda materials in Bengali on a large scale in Bangladesh.

Informing that ISIS has been publishing its propaganda materials in Arabian, English, French, German and Turkish languages, authoritative security sources told this newspaper that of late, they have noticed ISIS propaganda materials published in Bengali, which is highly disturbing for the security agencies in India also.

Though it was circulated in Bangladesh so far, security sources said that it can be read and understood up to West Bengal and north-eastern states of India. Security sources said they have also come across some ISIS videos which mention Assam.

Pointing out that these factors are alarming, security sources said southeast Asian countries have always been on the ISIS radar.

Security sources clarifyied India is yet to assess the threat perception arising from the Dhaka attack.

Pointing out that there is no reason to panic, security sources said that India’s immediate concern is to stop the entry of active radical elements from Bangladesh into India.

Informing that Bangladesh has already started mounting pressure on radical groups responsible for the recent killings, the sources said there is every possibility of these radical forces trying to cross over to India to escape the onslaught of security forces in Bangladesh.

They also mentioned that bordering states have been asked to be alert while the Border Security Force has been directed to intensify patrolling along the International Border.

Security agencies have also started verifying the status of the jihadi elements arrested by security forces in West Bengal and Assam. Pointing out that security forces have been asked to keep close watch on activities of the jihadi modules who are at large on bail, security sources said that all necessary steps have been taken to check IS penetration of India.
