There is no denying the fact that the BJP will be treating the upcoming UP Assembly elections as war.

There is no denying the fact that the BJP will be treating the upcoming UP Assembly elections as war.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address at least one rally in the state every month till the Assembly polls, BJP president Amit Shah and Union home minister Rajnath Singh will also be addressing about a dozen rallies in the coming months.

Further, the Union ministers will also be touring the state to highlight the achievements of the Modi government and expose the lack of governance of the Akhilesh government. On Tuesday, BJP president Amit Shah had already made it clear that the BJP will no longer be “soft” on the Samajwadi party.

“The campaign will start picking up after the national executive meet in Allahabad this weekend where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a rally. The party high-command wants that there should be an adequate media coverage of its activities on a daily basis so that the people can understand that the BJP is the only challenger to the ruling SP,” said a senior party functionary.

The PM had, in the past one year, made over ten visits to UP, underlining that he is now a “UP wallah”.

“Events in Uttar Pradesh have been giving us enough fodder for the campaign and since we have 73 (including allies) MPs from the state, we can easily launch and sustain a massive campaign”, the functionary said.

The BJP president Amit Shah is also ensuring that he personally interacts with party workers at every level. He will initiate a dialogue with 1.5 lakh booth-level workers and galvanise them into action. He will also interact on a random basis with district-level workers. Sources said this is being done to ensure that there is no communication gap between the leadership and workers.

“As soon as the monsoon session ends, UP will turn into a war zone for us and all our energies will focus on the state. In the next two months, leaders have been assigned the task of listing local issues of every assembly segment,” he added.
