New Delhi: Claiming that the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party are fighting for the role of main Opposition party in UP, Union information and broadcasting minister M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday exuded confidence that the BJP is winning the Assembly election with a thumping majority.

“We have full confidence that BJP will win with majority in UP and form the government. Both SP and BSP are fighting for the role of Opposition. People will decide who is going to be the Opposition party between SP and BSP,” he said on the sidelines of a conference.

The senior minister criticised chief minister Akhilesh Yadav for his “donkeys of Gujarat” comment”. “When we  address people, we should speak the people’s language. We understand that this (Yadav’s comment) is not people’s language,” the Union minister said.

Addressing a rally at Rae Bareli, the Samajwadi Party chief had advised Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan against endorsing the “donkeys of Gujarat”.

Mr Yadav had referred to an advertisement in which Mr Bachchan, the brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism, is seen inviting tourists to the Wild Ass Sanctuary in Little Rann of Kutch.

The Union minister also dubbed the Congress-SP alliance as “immoral and unrealistic”.
