Typically, the Congress takes time to declare its candidates but has done so now even before the formal announcement of the poll dates by the Election Commission, that is likely any time now.
BHUBANESWAR: Odisha state Congress unit on Wednesday got a shot in the arm as veteran tribal leader and four-time Biramitrapur MLA George Tirkey officially joined the party at Delhi in presence of AICC president Rahul Gandhi and Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik.
Many supporters of Mr Tirkey also joined the Congress.
“Shri George Tirkey joined the Congress today which will strengthen the party. I welcome him to the Congress family,” Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik said.
Convenor of Mahanadi Bachao Andolan (MBA) , Sudarshan Das and several other members of the MBA also joined the party on the occasion.
