New Delhi: Rejecting Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s remarks against the RSS that it triggered caste violence in Maharastra, Union minister Satyapal Singh on Wednesday said the Sangh is for establishing peace in the country and not to spread violence. “RSS is a national organisation for establishing peace in the country and not to spread violence,” said the minister of state for human resource development outside Parliament.

Mr Singh said Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a judicial inquiry, which will reveal the truth about the people responsible for the violence. The Maharashtra bandh called by various Dalit and other organisations to protest the violence against commemoration of the Bhima-Koregaon battle was withdrawn Wednesday afternoon.

“The recent incidents at Koregaon, Pune and various other places in Maharashtra are very sad and painful. RSS strongly condemns such violence and feels it is despicable,” said a statement by RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachaar Pramukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya. He also called for punishment for those found guilty.
