Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the BJP’s Vikas Utsav rally at the AIIMS Ground here, listed the success of the many programmes and schemes — Make in India, Startup India, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana — rolled out by his government.
“I have come here to give you a detailed account of our pre-poll promises and what we have achieved in the last years. Did the previous government (United Progressive Alliance) ever give an account of its commitments and achievements in those respects Does the present Orissa government do this exercise ” he asked.
This was Mr Modi’s third visit to Orissa in the last six months. On February 7, he had addressed a farmers’ rally in Bargarh, western Orissa.
The Prime Minister again visited the state on February 27 and went to Paradip to dedicate the Oil India Corporation’s Paradip oil refinery project to the nation.
The Balasore rally was attended by at least 200,000 people from the five north Orissa districts of Keonjhar, Bal-asore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj.
Keonjhar, Balasore and Mayurbhanj parliamentary constituencies, which were represented by the BJP from 1998 to 2009, are now under BJD control.
The BJP is trying to regain its hold in these three constituencies.
