PDP wants Srinagar in Smart list

Amid indications of thawing relations between PDP and BJP over the government formation issue, senior PDP leader and former finance minister Haseeb Drabu on Friday met BJP president Amit Shah. Earlier this week, senior BJP leader Ram Madhav’s had met PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti in Srinaga. Both Mr Drabu and Mr Madhav had played a crucial role in formation of the PDP-BJP ruling alliance last year.

Sources disclosed that the former state finance minister stressed that efforts are on from the PDP’s side to resolve issues which are coming in the way of government formation.

There were no discussion on revocation on AFSPA from any district in the state between the two leaders, it was learnt.

Mr Drabu also met Union finance minister Arun Jaitley.

The PDP, it was learnt, wants the state capital to be included in the list of Narendra Modi government’s key project Smart Cities.

The PDP, sources said, wants the Centre to re-examine the flood relief package and bringing some power projects under the state administration.

Speculation is rife that Mehbooba Mufti, who is currently an MP from Anantnag parliamentary constuency, could meet Mr Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during coming budget session of Parliament.

After his meeting with Ms Mufti, Mr Madhav had maintained that the possibility of PDP-BJP coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir were on and there will be no changes in the “Agenda of Alliance” which was worked out between the two parties ahead of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed forming the PDP-BJP government last year.
