While three robbers fled the scene, the villagers chopped off the left hand of one of the robbers after catching him in Patna. According to the Patna police, the incident took place in Ruspaspur area in Patna district when four criminals were trying to escape with the booty after robbing Bank of Baroda customer service division. The police also claimed that it has recovered '1 lakh from the possession of the injured criminal before sending him off to Patna Medical College Hospital for treatment. His condition is said to be critical. A source from Rupaspur, while terming the incident “gruesome”, said he could only see a “portion of his (the injured criminal) left hand dangling”. A team of senior police officials is keeping a close tab on the situation.
“This act was carried out by a mob here, the person whose hands were chopped off by them has been sent for medical treatment. The case is still under investigation”, a police official said.
