Close on the heels of allowing the general public to make nominations for Padma Awards, the government has in a new initiative launched an interactive dashboard of those given Padma awards between 1954 and 2016. This new platform will provide an opportunity to the users to access detailed information about the awardees.

The move is aimed at bringing greater transparency and involvement of common people in the entire process of giving the Padma Awards. The new website, www.padmaawards.gov.in will help users gain access to all relevant details regarding the awardees like, who was awarded what award and for what activity or contribution, in which year, as well as belonging to which state and profession.

The dashboard is backed by a sophisticated data visualisation engine which processes complex data of around 4,400 awardees till date, and puts it out in a very simple and intuitive format for better understanding of the user.
