No officer in ‘sensitive’ excise post over 3 years
The Central Board of Customs and Excise has directed no officer should remain in a “sensitive” post for more than three years to ensure probity among government servants.
The Central Board of Customs and Excise has directed no officer should remain in a “sensitive” post for more than three years to ensure probity among government servants. “It is stated that postings and transfers of all officers are required to be done as per guidelines... And no one should continue to hold posts declared as sensitive for more than three years,” the CBEC said in a communication.
The CBEC asked the cadre controlling authorities to send a quarterly report confirming all “transfers/postings have been done as per guidelines”. The October-December 2015 report must be sent to the CBEC by Friday.
The CBEC is responsible for the collection of indirect taxes like customs and central excise duty and service tax.
In the Budget, the government aimed to collect Rs 6.47 lakh crores from indirect taxes in the current fiscal.
