Soaked in festive spirit, people across the country celebrated Holi on Thursday with splash of colours and savouring of sweets and cutting across religious lines greeted each other to send out a message of peace and harmony.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi celebrated Holi at AICC headquarters and also greeted people on the occasion of the festival of colours.
It was a riot of colours and festivities at the official residence of BJP President Amit Shah here with a swarm of party workers coming to greet him and play Holi. Besides party activists, some Union ministers also dropped by to greet Shah at his 11, Akbar Road residence.
In Goa foreign tourists also joined the locals in the celebrations which began in the morning and continued till late afternoon at the Azad Maidan in Panaji.
Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan among others extended their warm wishes to fans on the occasion, while asking them not to waste water this festival.
“Hey guys, I know it's tough but please try and play a dry Holi.#SaveWater (sic),” posted Abhishek.
Priyanka, who is shooting for 'Quantico' in Montreal, Canada, wrote, -"Happy holi from freezing Montreal.-" The 33-year-old actress celebrated the festival of colours with her 'Quantico' team.. Actress Alia Bhatt said, -"Happy happy Holi !!!! have a day full of love & laughter and of course COLOUR!! But please please save water this year..We need to!!-"
