New Delhi: Sensing there is no alternative for the Muslims in Bihar to go with, especially after RJD supremo Lalu Prasad’s conviction in a fodder scam case and his consequent five year jail term, the Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) government has been considering either to ban the BJP’s proposed “Hunkar” rally which will be addressed by Narendra Modi in Patna on October 27 or if needed arresting the saffron party’s Prime Ministerial candidate on the pretext of possible “communal disharmony”. The first indication of such a move has come from JD(U)’s youth wing leader Pradeep Yadav, who has shot off a letter to Kumar and party’s national president Sharad Yadav noting that the rally would be a “dangerous challenge for the peaceful environment of the state”. In the letter Yadav said, “I also request you not to hesitate in arresting Modi if he dares to hold this rally in anyway.” Requesting for an immediate cancellation of the rally, the JD(U)'s youth wing leader said, “The Hunkar rally may pose the most dangerous challenge for Bihar by endangering the prevailing peaceful environment in the state.” It is to be remembered here that it was only the then Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, who could dare to arrest senior BJP LK Advani in 90s, when he was entering the state as part of his Rath Yatra in favour of a “Grand Temple” at Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. After Advani’s arrest Lau could engineered a successful social combination (Muslim- Yadav) in his party's favour and ruled the state for next 15 years. Similarly, speculations are rife that with a possible arrest of Modi, Kumar could split Muslim-Yadav combination and bring the minority with his already stitched ECB-Mahadalit combine. Sources in the JD(U), however, maintained the party and government have not yet made up its mind over the issue and thus at least for now it can not be concluded that the rally would be banned and Modi be arrested. Modimania is farce: Congress Venkatesh Kesari | DC New Delhi: BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is more show than substance, more propaganda than reality and a master at blowing his own trumpet, Gujarat PCC chief Arjun Modhwadia says, disclosing how Modi moves with his team of 3,000 youth to ensure the success of his meetings in the state and outside and project himself as a “crowd-puller and “mass leader”.“You will see the face of Gujarati youth in his public meetings, they climb up on pillars and chant Modi’s name in a bid to excite the atmosphere,” he said. Modi knows the tricks of projecting himself big and, despite being the Gujarat CM, never takes the name of state Congress rivals, but equates himself with national leaders, like Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi. This has been a sure recipe of Modi to make himself the “national” leader. He has been dubbed as an authentic fascist by his detractors as also some scholars and has lived up to his “reputation”, Modhvadia said. Asked who would succeed Narendra Modi in Gujarat if he contests a Lok Sabha seat, Modhwadia countered by asking, “Will he contest ” There is talk in political circles that Modi may enter Parliament through a byelection or through the Rajya Sabha. “He is touring across the country after the BJP projected him as its PM candidate but he is not projecting a second rung in Gujarat. Mr Modi relies more on bureaucrats to run the state than his Cabinet colleagues,” the Gujarat PCC chief observed.
