Launching a couner offensive against the BJP for bringing down the level of political discourse and attempts to create communal polarisation, the Congress party on Sunday said Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi lost his “mental” balance after being subservient to PM Modi, while finance minister Arun Jaitley is trying to please his “master” through his writings on social media. Responding to questions on Mr Naqvi’s remarks against Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, AICC spokesperson Ajoy Kumar said “Naqvi has lost his balance after being subservient to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that is why he is making such statements. “ Prime Minister ke talve chat-chat kar unka mansik santulan bigad gaya hai,” Mr Kumar said.

Mr Naqvi had on Saturday said in Kanpur that the Opposition talks about secularism, but when a terrorist is killed, it is linked to religion. He was said to have made some comments against Ms Gandhi.

“Congress leader Salman Khurshid had said that following Batla house encounter in Delhi, party president Sonia Gandhi couldn’t sleep the whole night,” Mr Naqvi had said. While hitting back at Mr Jaitley for accusing it of practicing “ideological intolerance” towards the Prime Minister, the Congress said Mr Jaitley may be out to please his “boss” but his remarks were “ridiculous” as right from the common man to the President, everyone has expressed concern over the “rising atmosphere of intolerance”. He was reacting after Mr Jaitley accused the Congress and Left of practising “ideological intolerance” towards the BJP and the PM.
