Etawah will soon have another major attraction — this time it is a theme park dedicated to filmmaker K. Asif and his classic movie, Mughal-e-Azam. Located near the Lion Safari in Etawah, the theme park will have galleries dedicated to the filmmaker and his films.
K. Asif was born in Etawah in 1924 and later moved to Mumbai to make a career in films. The state government now wants to honour him and his contribution to cinema.
The Akhilesh government plans to have key characters from Mughal-e-Azam in the gallery and a special part will be dedicated to the film’s trivia.
“The idea is still in its early stages and we will see how best we can develop the theme park and make it one-of-its-kind in India,” said an official.
The state government wants to turn the theme park into a major tourist attraction and celebrate the filmmaker who has roots in the district.
Etawah and Sefai, the native village of SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav and chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, is presently known for the annual Sefai Mahotsav that brings several Bollywood stars to the event.
An international airport is under construction and Sefai also has a post-graduate medical institute.
