MoEF asks for research proposals

The ministry of environment and forest has invited research proposals on various subjects ranging from climate change to forest and wildlife management to pollution control.

The ministry of environment and forest has invited research proposals on various subjects ranging from climate change to forest and wildlife management to pollution control.

A ministry official said the one of the major thrust areas on which the proposals are being sought is controlling pollution. “We would like to have synopsis on development of strategies and technologies for control of pollution including waste recycling, management of hazardous substances, or any other eco-friendly alternatives,” said the officials, adding, “We would also like to know expert opinions on development of biological and other interventions for pollution prevention. The new feasible technologies for greening of products and processes would also be entertained.”

The ministry added issues like restoration of degraded ecosystems, bioremediation of contaminated sites is also on their agenda.

Besides, the officials said that, studies related to different ecosystems, their conservation and management, expertise on remote sensing and GIS technologies for accurate inventory of natural resources and environmental planning will also be welcomed.

As climate change in deforestation are two issues at the helm of environmental affairs across the globe, we would like ideas on climate change environmental health and toxicology research on land cover, land use and forestry changes. “Studies on impacts of developmental activities on the environment and ecology conservation, enhancement and utilization of forests and their resources besides research on socio-economic issues related to environment are important,” the officials added.

The ministry added that issues like restoration of degraded ecosystems, bioremediation of contaminated sites and water studies on conservation is also on their agenda.

“From academic institutions to reputed non-governmental organizations and voluntary bodies to private organizations can send their proposals for considerations through online applications,” the officials added.
