Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday visited the Pathankot airbase which was attacked by terrorists last week. The Prime Minister was briefed by senior Army and other security officers about the terrorists at the base. He voiced satisfaction over the counter-offensive mounted by the security forces to eliminate the perpetrators.

Senior intelligence sources said Mr Modi was taken to the site of the operation and was shown the buildings where militants were holed up. According to sources, he was taken around the military engineering service yard where the militants met first resistance by security forces. He visited the two-storey billet for airmen’s accommodation where the last two terrorists were killed after the structure was blown up by security forces. The PM was taken around the airbase by defence and security officers, and made an aerial survey of the border area. He spent about 90 minutes at the base and Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha and National Security Guard officials briefed him about the attack and the counter-offensive by the forces.
