Prime Minister Narendra Modi will celebrate his 67th birthday with specially-abled (divyangs) persons at his home state Gujarat on September 17. The Prime Minister is scheduled to begin the day with blessings from his mother.
The Prime Minister’s visit to his home state will include a visit to Limkheda in Dahod and Navsari. In Dahod, he will address a rally to announce welfare schemes for tribals.
This will be PM’s third visit in recent times to Gujarat, where Assembly elections are scheduled to be held next year.
In Navsari, Mr Modi is scheduled to distribute “divyang” appliances, including tri-cyles, wheelchairs, kits for visually-impaired and hearing impaired, callipers, prosthesis etc. to the specially-abled people at the country’s biggest “divyang” camp. About 11,000 people are expected to benefit from the gala event. The event will be held at the Sai Garbha ground Navsari district.
Later, he would go to the tribal district of Dahod to inaugurate an irrigation project and will also address a public rally. Mr Modi is also scheduled to lay the foundation stone for two water projects.
Taking inspiration from the Central government’s Accessible India Campaign, the drive known as “Aao Milkar Sath Chalein” has been helping specially-abled people in Navsari, Surat, Tapi, Valsad and Dang.
The project was started in June. During the first phase, which started from June 6 to June 14, 2016, a total of 5,125 beneficiaries were identified for the distribution of kits and about 8,408 kits worth Rs 4.21 crores were distributed. Significantly, the state government identified 25,00 new beneficiaries during the second phase that was conducted in August. Kits worth over Rs7 crore were distributed during this phase. Also, 2,000 state bus passes were distributed and registrations were made for various other schemes run by the state government.
