Modi doing politics of vendetta: Rahul Gandhi
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for stalling development in his parliamentary constituency Amethi.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for stalling development in his parliamentary constituency Amethi.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks of development all the time but he has stopped the development of Amethi. The previous UPA government constructed six highways in Amethi, but Mr Modi has cancelled many big projects here. It is apparent that he is indulging in the politics of vendetta,” said Mr Gandhi while addressing a public meeting at Zafarganj in Jagdishpur Assembly constituency area of Amethi on Thursday
Mr Gandhi recalled that the Modi government had cancelled the Mega Food Park project in Amethi along with the Triple IT, paper mill and Central school projects. He said that projects in constituencies of other Congress leaders were also being withdrawn.
He said that the Congress would no longer sit quietly on the issue and would fight this tendency from Parliament to the streets. “Hum sansad se sadak se ladenge magar chup nahin baithenge,” he said and added that the Congress would also fight for farmers who were being given a raw deal by the BJP government. Taking a dig at the “Make in India” concept, Mr Gandhi said, “The Make in India logo is that of a lion but, till date, we have not even heard the lion squeak, leave alone roar.”
The Congress vice-president slammed the Modi government for its failure to check price rise and provide employment to the youth.
“The Prime Minister talks of smart cities but in the past two and a half years, have you seen any smart city ” he asked.
Earlier in the day, huge crowds were seen at the Janata Darshan programme held at the Munshiganj guest house by the Congress MP in his constituency.
Mr Gandhi patiently heard the complaints of the people that ranged from lack of medical treatment to injustice by local officials and the high-handedness of the police.
Mr Gandhi assured that he would look into the problems and do whatever was possible to solve the issues.
