In a fresh twist to the death of Ram Vraksh Yadav, the mastermind of the Mathura clashes, his battery of lawyers on Wednesday claimed that Ram Vraksh is alive but missing.

Ram Vraksh Yadav’s lawyer, L.K. Gautam, claimed that the body cremated by the police in Mathura on Monday was not of the cult leader. He said he had seen pictures of the body that the police claimed was of Ram Vraksh and was confident that it was not the cult leader. “I had been meeting Ram Vraksh frequently and I recognise him well. That body is not Ram Vraksh’s,” he said, adding that the face and features did not match. “He did not have so much hair on his head and he was slim,” the lawyer said.
