Rahul Naik, son of Dhobeswar Naik and Bhubudi Naik, who were killed in a reported “exchange of fire” with security personnel on July 26 evening at Pangalpada village under Tumudibandh police limits in Kandhamal district, has brought serious charges against the CRPF personnel.

In complaint lodged before the Orissa State Human Rights Commission on Monday, Naik, who works in Kerala as an industrial worker, alleged that the CRPF jawans tried to molest her mother on the fateful evening and when his father opposed their action, the infuriated jawans killed the couple.

The complainant said on July 26 evening, his parents had gone to the hilltop in Madaguda forest to talk to him over telephone to avoid signal fluctuation.

“When I was speaking to my mother, I heard a cry for help from mother. Moments later, I also heard my father shouting for help. After that the phone got disconnected. On the next day, I came to know from newspapers that my parents were killed and police branded them as Maoists. But the truth is that the CRPF jawans tried to molest my mother to which my father resisted,” he said.

Rahul said his mother’s breasts were inhumanly cut off by the CRPF jawans.

“The brutality of the jawans has crossed all limits and I demand a fair probe into the incident,” Nayak said.

Soon after the incident, the police had buried the dead bodies. After much hue and cry, the bodies were exhumed and taken for post-mortem.

“Let the post-mortem report made public,” he demanded.

Earlier, the police had said the couple had been killed during an exchange of fire with the security personnel.

The villagers of the Madaguda had then disputed the police claim that the two people who were killed in the encounter were Maoists.

“Dhobeswar and his wife are innocent. They had gone to the hilltop to make a noise-free call on mobile phone to their son who is working in Kerala. We suspect foul play in their death and demand a fair probe,” the villagers said.
