Two Muslim women, who were brutally assaulted by cow vigilantes at Mandsaur railway station in Madhya Pradesh a couple of days ago, on Thursday alleged that Bajrang Dal activists had instigated violence against them.
In another development, Ratlam government railway police on Thursday arrested four people in connection with Tuesday’s attack on the two women.
The arrested persons have been identified as Govind Rao Chouhan, Dilip Devda, Swadesh Chanal, and Vikas Ahir.
The two women, who were arrested on charges of trafficking cow meat in an illegal manner and later released by the police, alleged that Bajrang Dal members were behind the attack on them in the public place on the day.
“We were stopped by some Bajrang Dal activists when were coming out of the Mandsaur railway station. They demanded to know if we were carrying beef. But we tried to convince them that we were carrying buffalo meat not beef and pleaded with them to examine it by veterinarians if they did not trust us. But they refused to believe us and asked the women accompanying them to beat us,” Ms Salma Mevati (35), one of the two victims, said.
The other victim has been identified as Shamim Akhtar Hussein (30). After medical examination, it was later found that it was buffalo meat. The local Bajrang Dal unit however, denied the allegation.
“It is baseless and unfounded. Bajrang Dal has nothing to do with the Tuesday’s incident at Mandsaur railway station,” spokesman of the district unit of the outfit said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, MP home minister Bhupendra Singh on Thursday revealed that the meat seized from the two women have been sent to a laboratory in Hyderabad for examination.
