A grand welcome and unprecedented security awaits Prime Minister Narendra Modi who arrives in Lucknow on Tuesday to celebrate Dusshera.
The city has been converted into a fortress with the officials of Special Protection Group (SPG) taking their position and monitoring the security of Aishbagh Ramlila ground and the roads, through which the PM’s cavalcade would pass.
Mr Modi is expected to reach Lucknow by 6.10 pm on Tuesday and would reach the venue from Amausi airport by a copter. However, alternative road route from airport to Aishbagh has also been kept open, in view of any change in the plan.
The Union Home Minister and the Lucknow Mayor will welcome the PM at the airport, along with UP Governor Ram Naik and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
The Aishbagh Ramlila ground, where the Dusshera programme will be held, is being decorated with 20 quintals of flowers. A 121-feet effigy of ‘Ravan’ has been erected and would be set on fire through laser by Mr Modi, in the presence of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Lucknow Mayor and BJP vice president Dinesh Sharma.
The Prime Minister will stay in the state capital for about an hour after which he will return to Delhi. Security arrangements have been also been beefed up on the eve of Moharrum processions in the city on Tuesday. The administration has deployed 15 companies of central para military forces, two ATS commando teams and 2000 police personnel at the venue.
