: Responding to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah's recent comment that he would eat beef if he desired, a local BJP leader has threatened to behead the Conrgess politician if he consumes beef.
Accusing him of behaving like a dictator, SN Channabasappa, ex city Municipal Councillor of Shivamogga, said in a public gathering that the Chief Minister has insulted the sentiments of the Hindus in Karnataka.
Daring Siddarmiah, Channabasappa said, -"let him eat beef at the Gopi circle (Shivamogga). If he does, he will be beheaded. We won't think twice about that.-"
As the beef debate raged, Siddramiah had said on Monday, -"Who are they (BJP leaders) to stop me or force their choice on me I have not eaten beef so far, but I am free to eat whenever and whatever I like. This is my fundamental right guaranteed under the Constitution.”
Siddaramaiah's statement assumes significance in the wake of BJP leaders warning that they would launch a state-wide agitation against him and are mulling legal action against him on his statement.
