Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Prisoner No. 3312 at Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi, was on Tuesday given a copy of the Gita by top party colleague and fellow MP Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, along with some practical advice on making good use of jail time. After his conviction on Monday in the Rs 950-crore fodder scam, Yadav spent his first night in jail with much difficulty even though he was allotted a “VVIP room” in an “upper division barrack” where scam-tainted former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda had spent over three years before getting bail. Yadav badly missed cable TV as the television set in his room had no cable connection. Jharkhand IGP (Jails) Shailendra Bushan said his request for a cable connection was sent to the state government for approval. Over 25 senior RJD leaders from Bihar and Jharkhand met Yadav in jail to express solidarity and faith in his leadership, vowing to keep the party united and strong. Vaishali MP Raghu vansh Prasad Singh said he gave Yadav a copy of the Srimad Bhagavat Gita. “I asked him to read the great slokas in the Gita and to take a daily morning walk for at least one hour,” he said.
