: A Kolkata court on Thursday convicted three accused in the Park Street gangrape case; the quantum of sentence will be announced on Friday.
The sessions court found all accused in the case guilty, however two the five men accused in the case are absconding.
Kolkata resident, Suzette Jordan, was raped at gunpoint in a car on February 6, 2012, by five young men who picked her up from Park Street. The police, in its chargesheet, had named five men.
In 2013, she had boldly revealed her identity to the world.
“Why should a person who has been raped be called a victim when they are actually a survivor ” Jordan had said in an interview.
After the horrific rape, Jordan struggled for more than a year to get a job. The Park Street rape victim stood up against circumstances and started empowering survivors like her through a helpline.
She died in March this year due to multiple organ failure.
