A day after the BJP’s Kerala unit and the Bharat Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) resolved the contentious issue of seat-sharing for the coming Assembly elections in the state, the central BJP on Tuesday officially released a list of 22 candidates.

These names had earlier been released by the state unit without getting cleared from the central election committee. The party also released 14 more names for the West Bengal elections. Speculation is rife that the BJP could field cricketer S. Sreesanth as its candidate for the Kerala elections. BJP president Amit Shah, who is in Kerala, could also meet Mr Sreesanth.

While BJP Kerala unit chief Kummanam Rajasekharan will be making his electoral debut from Vattiyoorkavu in Thiruvananthapuram, senior leader and former Union minister O. Rajagopal has been fielded from Nemom constituency in Thiruvananthapuram. Former state unit chiefs P.K. Krishnadas and .V Muraleedharan have been fielded from Kattakkada and Kazhakottam, respectively.
