Hyderabad

: A 28-year-old was shot dead by police after he went berserk on the streets in Karimnagar early on Tuesday morning, attacking his parents and several others with a sword.

The man’s parents, two constables and an auto-rickshaw driver were among those injured during the rampage.

The deceased has been identified as one Balvinder Singh, an employee of Oracle company in Bengaluru. He was allegedly suffering from depression after he failed to clear the civil services exams.

Reports say the man had an argument with his mother, following which, he attacked his parents with a sword. He then rushed out of the house and started attacking pedestrians with the sword.

Police tried to intervene and in the process two constables also suffered injuries, with the situation spinning out of control, a cop shot at Balvinder.

All those injured, including Balvinder, were taken to a nearby hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries.
