The home ministry has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to send a detailed report at the earliest on the alleged migration of Hindus from Kairana village in the state.
The Centre’s communication to the UP government was sent three days ago.
Minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju had earlier said it was unfortunate if people were being forced to leave their homes in their own country. “If people have to leave their homes in their own country, then the state government should take the responsibility. If the state government seeks any help, we will definitely give them,” he had said Monday.
Some media reports in the last few days have alleged Hindus from Kairana village in western UP’s Shamli district have been forced to leave their homes by people from another community. However, state CM Akhilesh Yadav had accused BJP leaders of being “dishonest” and lying.
