Four youth have been arrested for attempting to set ablaze a police official for refusing to arrest a murder-accused. The youth had poured kerosene on themselves. The incident took place in Chandinagar police station in Baghpat district
The body of a young man, Rohit, was found on the railway tracks on Sunday. His brother Suresh identified the body and alleged that four persons of the village had murdered his brother and had put the body on the railway tracks to make it seem a case of suicide. The four were taken into custody. About 60 persons form the village reached the Chandina-gar police station and demanded to know what action had been taken against those responsible for Rohit’s death. SHO Subhash Yadav allegedly misbehaved with the locals and asked them to leave the police station.
This angered the mob that then poured kerosene on the SHO and also on the four accused persons who were in the lock-up. The SHO cried out for help and others cops rushed in and rescued the police official after chasing out the mob.
A case has been registered and further investigations are on while the four accused have been sent to jail.
